He is an armadillo
He lives with his wife Susan and 12 children
In their Nacogdoches burrow
There’s Ilona and Maria
Audrey and Sophia
Ellen, Helen, Lucy, Susie
Joe and Antonio
Armando Jr. and Carlito
Eight daughters and four sons
Armando’s always on the run
Seems like an unusual outfit
Three sets of identical quadruplets
But that’s the way it goes
With Armadillos

Armando’s never lazy
He takes care of his family
He has a full time job – working as a gardener in a nursery
At the rising of the sun
And when the day is done
Armando has to make his way
Across Highway 21

Please take care you hard-working armadillo
To home and work each day
Be sure to look both ways
When you make that daily run

When an armadillo senses danger
They leap into the air
Not the best reaction when a car’s coming at you on the highway
So Armando please stay down
Close to the ground
Remember your wife and kids across the road in Nacogdoches.
